High School Senior Photo Shoot {Vignette 3}

Our final vignette of the High School Senior photo shoot was inspired by American music festivals. I must admit it’s was my favorite, and I had so much fun putting together a bohemian meets 4th of July set. Meg knew the perfect location for this setting, and her talent for using natural light truly brought the set to life. It definitely seemed to be a favorite for the girls too. Even after a long day of shooting, they were radiant and energized.

It was truly an amazing day! We had such a great time with our models, Meg and I jumped in for a final pic with the girls before saying goodbye.

For more photos from the Music Festival vignette, head over to Meg’s blog post, here. I’ll be posting the remaining two vignettes later this week!

High School Senior Photo Shoot {Vignette 2}

Continuing on from the Ice Cream Parlor vignette, our college-bound girls wore casual prep attire for a collegiate inspired shoot on a section of abandoned railroad tracks. With vintage suitcases in hand, they await the adventure that lies ahead. I especially love this vignette for the fabulous vintage details provided by One True Love Vintage Rentals.  Scroll down to see the other vendors involved below.

High School Senior Photo Shoot {Vignette 1}

High school graduation came and went leaving room for a new class of seniors. As their final high school year approaches, many will preserve this moment of time (and freedom) with a portrait session. I recently worked with Meg Sexton Photography to elevate the High School senior portrait concept with a fully styled photo shoot.  Our models were four young ladies who will be going into their senior year this Fall. I designed three different vignettes for the shoot, beginning with our ice cream parlor theme. Pearls, party dresses and pastel ice cream, the girls ate this theme up… literally!

Aren’t they adorable? Wouldn’t this be a fun way to capture memories with best friends while getting portraits for the parents? These great photos will last long after everyone moves to different cities and colleges, making for a wonderful keepsake.

Wedding Planning Certification Course

I wanted to share insight into my dedication to Weddings. This Winter I completed what is considered by many as the MBA program of all Wedding Planner Certification courses. At the time, I was a wedding planner assistant at Allure Consulting, whose founders were certified through the same program. For me it was not a matter of if I was going to obtain further education to get certified, but a matter of when. Although it is not necessary to have your wedding planner certification, I believe that as specialists, we owe it to our clients to have the best training possible. Upon learning about the comprehensive in-class program from my colleagues, I decided to add to my experience by following in their footsteps.

Held at Cal State East Bay, the course is taught by Joyce Scardina Becker of Events of Distinction, a Bay Area Wedding Planner with over 25 years of experience. It was even featured on Project Wedding. The course is not for the faint of heart. There are 5 in class sessions totaling 45 hours (without breaks). The material is thorough and intensive, demanding at least 200 hours of work between sessions. I completed the program with a 5 hour exam to obtain my certificate. That’s a lot of hours, but to me it was worth every minute. The reality is Wedding Planning is more than fluffing dresses and making things pretty (though I do love this part of the job), but it has a lot to do with logistics and details. In fact, the class confirmed just how pertinent my background in project management truly is the wedding planning, and I completed the program feeling extremely confident in my services.

The knowledge I gained from Joyce’s certification course is invaluable to me and to my clients. And I hope to be hanging a certificate in my office this Fall.

Joie de Vivre!

My right hand man…

You may think Kaella Lynn Events is a one woman show, but I actually have a right hand man… my Little Man, aka Simba! He’s my 2 year old Yorkie and has quite the robust personality. My husband and biggest supporter (that’s him below) gave Simba to me for my birthday almost a few years ago. He was a very sick puppy and had to have very expensive heart surgery to save his life, but he is now as healthy as ever and makes sure everyone knows it. It’s quite the power struggle, as he thinks he is boss (not kidding). I wouldn’t trade him for the world.

Simba has been with me since the beginning of Kaella Lynn Events and is in the office with me every day making sure there is no shortage of entertainment. I don’t know what I would do without him! His favorite spot is on a chair pulled right up next to mine, so he can get a good look at the computer and make sure everything is running smoothly. I’ve been trying to come up with the right title for him, but I haven’t settled on one yet. Here are couple titles we’ve come up with so far:

C.F.O. – Cute Furry Officer

VP of Security (I’m pretty sure he thinks he’s a guard dog)

Have other suggestions for Simba’s official title?

Cheers!

Kaella
