Fave 5: Beauty

This is the first installment of a new series called Fave 5, in which I will highlight my current favorite 5 items in a particular category. It could be fashion, flowers, dessert designs, makeup, etc. Today I am focusing on beauty. Not necessarily makeup, but my favorite products for your face and body.

Whether your wedding day is coming up, your high school reunion or a highly anticipated date night, these are some of my favorite products to beautify the face and body, because a healthy base is a recipe for radiance.

1. Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish

This body scrub is amazing. Not only does is slough off dull, dry skin, but provides rich moisture to the body. I use this after Winter each year and before a big event to make my skin glow.

2. Keihl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

A good friend recommend this to me a while back. I wasn’t quite sure of the hype, but after using is just one night, my skin was a million times smoother. Try it.

3. Sonicare Diamond Clean Toothbrush

You’re probably thinking a toothbrush is a strange item to have on this list, but this toothbrush changed my life! Not kidding. Admittedly, I have a slight coffee and Coca-cola addiction, but I cannot stand the teeth stains that come with it. I needed a way to keep my teeth pearly white in between my bi-yearly dentist visits, and this toothbrush does that and more. Honestly, try this before you pay for your next expensive teeth whitening treatment, or at least use it after to keep them white. Seriously, what is more important for your wedding, event or date than a healthy, white smile?

4. Skyn Icelandic relief eye cream

This eye cream will do wonders after a late night, restless sleep or carb overload. Apropos to the name, the cream actually cools the skin, and feels super refreshing. It will minimize that under eye puff in time for your big day!

5. LASHEM Eye lash growth enhancement

So I was a huge skeptic of lash growth serums. But after losing half my eyelashes to falsies and eye make-up sensitivity, I was willing to give anything a try. This serum is not super expensive either. Being super sensitive to most products, I was thrilled that I didn’t have a reaction, and even more so that it actually worked. My lashes are so full, I don’t even have the itch to use falsies anymore!

What are some of your favorite face and body products?

Currently coveting: Laser cut

One of my favorite new-comers this year was laser cut stationery, and I have a feeling it is going to be in high demand for 2013. First spotted among beautiful wedding invitations, this delicate and lux design has many stunning applications, from fashion to decor. I’ve gathered some of my favorite laser cut inspirations for your viewing pleasure. What do you think of this trend? Hot or Not?

I’m really excited about laser cut in fashion. Would you dare to wear one of these dresses? To much for you? You can make a more subtle statement with laser cut shoes and accessories.

For an extra lux effect, add laser details to your decor. I just love this ceremony backdrop from BHLDN.

Do I need a Wedding Planner?

My answer, of course, is yes! But when we look at why, you will see there is good reasoning behind this seemingly biased answer. There are many reasons a couple would want to hire a wedding planner. Here are my top 7:

Let’s say you have a lot of time, are very creative and have major organization and negotiation skills. You may not think a wedding planner is necessary, and I don’t blame you. Unfortunately, I can’t even count how many times I’ve heard, “I wish we had hired a coordinator to manage my wedding day!”

What many couples don’t realize is how much work goes into the final stages and day of the wedding. It can become quite stressful trying to manage the logistics, set up decor, host your family and friends, all the while trying to relax and enjoy each priceless moment of your wedding day. And it really goes by so fast. You need to be present to have those lasting memories.

Therefore I recommend hiring a Month-Of Coordinator at the very least, and for many of the same reasons outlined above. For example, your planner can point out gaps in contracts, and could end up saving you money by problem solving before the wedding, instead of on the day of it. With budget being a big reason why many couple decide or think they cannot afford a wedding planner, having one, even just for Month-Of Coordination, could actually save time and money in the long run. And lets face it, time is money, right?

Even wedding planners hire coordinators to manage their wedding day, including me!  At the end of the day, this is a once in a lifetime experience. Not only is it the ceremony and celebration of your marriage, but it’s one of the few times you have so many of your loved ones in one place. It’s a day to be cherished and enjoyed. And that’s priceless!

What are your reasons for hiring a wedding planner? I’d love to get a list going in the comments.

Inspiration Board: Pink, Mint + Tennis

Watching the tennis matches of the 2012 London Olympics inspired the design board below. Sporty touches are incorporated in small details, such as the drop waist tennis bridesmaid’s dress, and the vintage tennis racket motif on the invitations. My favorite item? The mesh heels, of course!

I envision carrying the vintage racket motif into other elements of the wedding, such as the day of stationery and decor props. A pastel and gold color palette keeps the look whimsical and feminine.

Inspiration Board: An American in London

Is anyone else addicted to the 2012 London Olympics? I can’t stop watching! While rooting for team USA, I can’t help but be inspired by Great Britain. I mean they did give us the Beatles and our current obsession, the Royal couple. What’s not to love?!

Here’s red, white and blue wedding inspiration paying respect to both countries.

Ok, enough sportsmanship… GO TEAM USA!!! 😉
