Happy New Year!

2012 was quite a year, both professionally and personally! I exceeded my business goals for the year and had some amazing opportunities along the way. The last few months brought a whirlwind of new beginnings to my home life, too. My husband took a new job after 5 years with his company, we moved to San Francisco and we found out we’re having a baby! Yes, I’m pregnant! Quite the grand finale to a wonderful year.

I would like to raise a toast (drinking Martinelli’s sparkling apple cider, of course). First, to my lovely clients and industry colleagues. You are the reason I love what I do, and I look forward to creating beautiful events together in 2013! Second, to my friends and family who have supported me. Thank you for understanding my insane schedule over the Summer and Fall months. To my husband. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you. You are the bacon to my eggs, the peanut butter to my jelly. I love you. And lastly, to all the recently engaged couples, brides, grooms and wedding lovers. Thank you for keeping me inspired, challenged and grateful.

May 2013 be a beautiful year for you all.

Gift wrapping inspiration

I know they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, but doesn’t a beautiful wrapped package just make a gift better to give and to receive? These images of creatively wrapped gifts are sure to inspire you to step up your game. And why not give your wrapping some TLC? It is your gifts first impression!

Play up gold with polka dots, feathers, ribbons and tassels like these beautiful packages below.

I love how the wrapping below is dressed up with natural, rustic elements.

As you can see, kraft paper is insanely popular. It acts as a good base for festive trimmings. I just love all the details below.

But of course, selecting clever wrapping paper can be a quick step to fun and sentimental gift wrapping, too.

Holiday cards from Tiny Prints

I’ve been ordering my holiday cards from Tiny Prints for the last three years. Obviously they are doing something right, so I wanted to share what I love about them as well as some of my favorite picks from this season. I ordered mine just a week ago, and I’ve already received them and gotten them ready for mail! Yes, it’s that easy. The hardest part was picking the design I liked best, because there were so many beautiful ones. So, if you still haven’t ordered your holiday cards, hopefully this post will help you narrow down your search. And no, it’s not too late.

I ordered two sets of cards. One was a personal holiday greeting for my husband and I to send our family and friends. While the other is for my wedding and event industry colleagues. My personal favorite for the former card is the Iconic Year card. Our friends and family are spread all over the country and we don’t get to catch up with everyone as much as we’d like. This card allows us to share the highlights of the year and send our holiday wishes in one flat card. I chose Chartreuse green, but there is also teal and ruby. Like many of Tiny Prints’ holiday cards, we got to add a photo. We decided to place a picture of our puppy Simba in his bowtie this year.

Once I received them I used my custom address stamp (from Antiquaria) to personalize the envelope before getting them ready for the mail.

For my business, I selected the Be Shiny photo card. I love the polka dots! One great thing about Tiny Prints is you have options to select different layouts of each holiday card. Since I didn’t want to include a photo on this card, I opted for the 5.25″x5.25″ square card without a photo. I played with different font options, but ended up using the recommended font for this card. Another thing that makes Tiny Prints so easy to use. They provide font recommendations for the card design you’ve selected, but you still have the entire font selection should you choose.

I upgraded from the free white envelopes to a silver metallic envelope to add some holiday sparkle. Once I received them in the mail, I added my custom professional stamp from Antiquaria and printed the mailing addresses on round kraft labels to play off the polka dots on the card inside. I had a lot of fun with these and I was so excited to send them out!

Here are some other holiday greeting cards I like.

Happy Holidays!
