Seafaring sailors and preppy brides alike enjoy a good nautically inspired wedding – and why shouldn’t they? With crisp clean lines and plenty of East Coast proper stripes, its no wonder that summer brings an abundance of ocean inspired events. The keys to this aesthetic are keeping the colors neutral, plenty of boat-worthy decor details, and a sense of adventure. From seafood appetizers (hello, Lobster Rolls) to bright blues and boat shoes, we have all the inspiration you’ll need to plan your nautical themed wedding, with plenty of room for customization. After all, what’s a nautical event without a few monograms? Ahoy!
As guests arrived via Classic Cable Cars, the illuminated staircase beckoned them towards the Conservatory. The candles that lined the staircase and aisle were provided by GlassyBaby, who not only sell their beautifully colored votives, but rents them for events. The flower arrangements were by Florabella Studios and all rentals were from BluePrint Studio.
Guests enjoyed a bridal fashion show with beautiful gowns from Kinsley James Bridal Salon before heading inside for libations, tasty bites and more wedding inspiration. Below are my favorite images of the ceremony as captured by Milou + Olin Photography. Be sure to jump over to the article in Modern Luxury Magazine for more photos from the event, including the amazing vignettes designed by our colleagues and friends that were on display inside the pavilion.
A traditional rug and mirrored desk anchor the altar space while cherry colored blooms with pink ranunculus, berries and overflowing foliage pop against the whites of the conservatory and create an ever-so-romantic setting.
I chose mismatched, distressed chairs with mirrored side tables placed sparingly throughout to add texture and interest to the space, without distracting from the beautiful surroundings. Eclectic while still refined. Don’t you just love this mixed look?

A few days ago we announced that Zhen and Francis’ wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty. You can see the images and read more about the design concept here. Today, I am thrilled to share the feature film JMarc Media produced! We absolutely love working with Jonathan! Just check out his work:
Today we have the pleasure of sharing the romantic and whimsical California wedding of Zhen and Francis, which has been featured on the Style Me Pretty California blog. First, can we just mention how stunning Zhen looks in her Jenny Peckham gown? Jaw dropping!
I loved working with this fun and happy couple, who met working at Facebook and just wanted an elegant, yet relaxed and carefree wedding. The result was what I called “Gilded Whimsy” – a neutral color palette with touches of soft yellows, natural greens, and bronze accents. We incorporated a black and white ticking stripe in the linens to keep it playful and youthful, like their personalities. The couple made laser cut invitations and signage, as well as custom escort card wine charms with each guests table assignment.
Food – locally source, tons of flavor and beautifully presented – was a big priority, so we enlisted Culinary Eye Catering to provide a beautiful al fresco experience. Both the bride and groom have Asian heritage, so the menu was a blend of California fresh and Asian fusion.
Be sure to head on over to Style Me Pretty: California for the full gallery of photos by talented film photographer Tanja Lippert and more details on how this wedding came together. Below are some of my favorite details followed by a full vendor listing.
