This wedding wouldn’t be what is was without the amazing vendors who worked against the odds to make this day perfect for Kate and Brian. Scroll below to see the list of rock star vendors who made it happen.
Brian is a 7th generation Californian and was often referred to as a “Modern Cowboy” during our discussions. Kate family’s Greek and Italian culture had a great influence on her as does her love of literature. They met through their love of horses and riding together in the California outdoors is huge part of their relationship. This rancher and horse riding life lead the core inspiration behind the design, which you see not only in the overall vibe, but specifically in the paper goods, julep cups, horse shoes (which came from Kate and Brian’s own barn), vintage trophy. Kate’s heritage was represented in the olive branches, pops of colorful flowers by Huckleberry Karen Designs and delicious menu by Culinary Eye Catering. Not to mention the table names that were drawn from quotes by her favorite authors. The outdoor setting at the gorgeous Thomas Fogarty Winery, crisp white linens and farmhouse furnishings had a very whimsical and Californian vibe.
Thrilled to see Asal and Hamed’s romantic, soulful Legion of Honor wedding featured on Grey Likes Weddings today! How I came to work with this couple was true happenstance. A week before jet setting to London, I received an inquiry from Asal and Hamed who lived there, but wanted to be married in the Bay Area. It was quite the serendipitous that we were able to meet in person the following week!
In order to create truly unique weddings, I draw inspiration for each wedding directly from the client – their experiences together, heritage, passions, interests and so on. This wedding is a great example of how to add personalized touches to your wedding. Read on to find out some of the personal details that made this wedding truly unique. And don’t miss the full feature on Grey Likes or the list of vendors below who came together to make it a success. The groom’s custom suite. Fitted to perfection. A custom bridal gown – simply elegant.
A Persian runner flown in by the Bride’s parents made for the perfect aisle decor.Hamed, a skilled pianist, played his bride down the aisle to a song he wrote after getting engaged. Talk about romantic! Instead of flower bouquets, the bridesmaids each carried traditional elements of the Sofreh, which is the traditional Persian ceremony spread. Another way we were able to incorporate a bit from their cultures in to the wedding. We paid tribute to Asal and Hamed’s pet bunny with these darling table number holders. Asal and Hamed found these pop-up cards in a Singapore market. They ran around gathering enough of them to use for their invitations and Brown Fox Calligraphy created custom stamps to imprint them.
Drawing from one of their favorite dates, we had gospel singers surprise guests with a show during dinner. The Persian knife dance kicked off the dancing portion of the evening. The wedding party surprised our couple with a flash mob dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller – rumored to be an inside joke.
Today Stephanie and Johnny’s refined Kohl Mansion wedding is featured on Borrowed & Blue! What started as friendship for this darling couple quickly turned to romance and it was clear these two were living their own fairy tale. On their wedding day, 200 guests gathered to witness an Egyptian Coptic ceremony at Johnny’s family church where they followed the orthodox rituals, including donning crowns and capes. A Black tie reception followed at Kohl Mansion in Burlingame, CA – a 100-year-old estate which at one time was the site of lavish parties for the “smart set.” Stephanie had wanted a romantic, intimate and fun reception. The neutral palette was offset by bright pops of fuchsia. Twinkle lighting over the patio, candle-lit fireplaces, mantels and tables set an intimate atmosphere, despite the large guest count. A show stopper (besides the bride of course) was the cake display, taking advantage of light shining through the large windows that back lit a beautiful textured linen draped on the dark wood table to highlight a buttercream cake with olive branch details. Head over to Borrowed and Blue for more images and scroll below for the full vendor list.
Victoria and Sean’s wedding is featured on the Style Me Pretty: California blog today! Check out the photos from Milou + Olin Photography of the modern and geometric wedding that took place at our beloved Gundlach Bundschu Winery in Sonoma. You know your bride is awesome when she buys adult onesies for her bridal party to get ready in the day of the wedding. And I just loved her Hayley Paige dress with it’s detachable lace overskirt.
